Actually I completely agree with you. This is the first time I spontaneously wrote "american", and looking back I thought it would be better not to do that. I have a lot of friends in the US, and they are wonderful people. It wasn't my intention to offend all Americans. I wrote it because the comment of this guy was just so disgusting. I was shocked when I read it. I think that someone from Europe or the most other parts of the world wouldn't say something like that about Montserrat Caballe.

I've got to say he doesn't speak for most Americans. I happen to think she has a beautiful voice. I love the blending of the two styles in this song. Opera and Rock are two great genres and anyone who can combine them that well are obviously talented.

Actually... Freddie Mercury loved, loved, loved opera and always wanted to be an opera singer. You may notice that Queen has always taken from opera, with cues, motifs, and sometimes outright imitation (See: Bohemian Rhapsody, Seven Seas of Rhye, I Want to Be Free, etc.). Barcelona is no different than any other Queen song.

Hey natacha reading your comment again I can see now that it was just a release of disgust, sometimes I think people just have no idea what life is supposed to be about, they just go through there lives seeing, hearing,and doing the some old things everyday and never trying anything new or different. This was the ultimate dream of Freddie. Montserrat Caballe was his admiration. When he was once asked by the press what was according to him the most beautiful female voice, he said that it was that of Montserrat. No-one expected that. I am so glad that this beautiful dream came true before he died. They are really fantastic!

If I am not mistaken, Freddie wrote this song together with Mike Moran. Mike Moran, who himself is a great musician and an brilliant piano player, helped Freddie with his solo albums.

Final performance. His very last video was made just two months before he died. It's called "These are the days of our lives." It's such a sad video because you can see how sick he is, but at the same time, it's beautiful because you can also see that he's accepted his fate. It really is a beautiful song, and you should definitely look it up.
