| Masaoka was one of the giants of early Japanese animation, and this is probably his greatest work. Setting aside the racist portrayal (which was a direct Western import that had no profound meaning in Japan), one remarkable aspect of this film that set it apart from other animation of the same period is that there isn't even a hint of war propaganda. | I like this short it shows alot of work in the early stages of the film, panning to the right or leftfocus out of focus all things you would expect to find in a real life action film. The fact that it is an animation is very thrilling. Something else that should be noted, this film reminds me of fantasa, watch it agian and ask yourself did ol'walt plagerize????? |
